Atlas Returns to
The Montreal International Fireworks Competition
Jaffrey, NH - January 23, 2003 - It has been eight years since Atlas
PyroVision Productions
participated in the Montreal International Fireworks Competition in
Montreal, Quebec. Since
then Atlas has grown to be a display company nationally recognized for
their stunning performances
in some of the most noted national shows.
Atlas started the new Millennium with international acclaim. In 1997 Atlas
began to produce the
Nation's Independence Day Celebration on the Mall in Washington DC. In
2000 Atlas produced some
of the largest displays in the country. Starting with the "B2K Events of
the Millennium" displays in Boston
to producing the largest Independence day celebration ever on the
Mall in Washington DC and the
most noted Independence day celebration in Boston MA.
Now eight years and over five thousand fireworks displays later, Atlas once
again has the opportunity
to show the world that they are the best. On July 19, 2003, under the
direction of President and
Artistic Director, Steve Pelkey, Atlas will have the opportunity to
compete for the coveted Golden Jupiter.
Pelkey states, "Our international experience in computer firing assisted by
a new wireless firing system
by Pyromate, will be one of the most innovative and technically
challenging displays ever produced in an
international competition.
The Atlas team that will go to Montreal is made up of not only our best but
the best in the country."
The team will include Matt Shea who has coordinated nearly every
major
Atlas production in the past five years, David Lavoie who has developed
one of the top electrical
firing systems in the world, Clayton Johnson a software engineer who has
worked with Atlas on many
of their major productions and Shawn Cross and Peter Hanson who
both have extensive technical
backgrounds in pyrotechnics.
It won't be easy. Atlas will be competing against companies from Canada,
England, France, Italy,
China, Argentina, Portugal and Australia. Every one of these
companies are the best in their country
and some have produced some of the most noted displays in the
world.
The theme will be "A Pyrotechnic Symphony" and will feature over 4,000
pyrotechnic devices fired by
seven computers, including one designed in the Monadnock Region.
Smart Fire tm Wireless is the
latest firing system from Pyromate Inc, a Peterborough NH based
company, owned by David Lavoie.
"This marriage of Dave's Smart Fire computerized firing systems with the
wireless modules will create
a technically challenging yet intense show." says Matt Shea, "Everything
we have learned in Washington,
Boston and from our own Jaffrey Festival of Fireworks will be put
to use in preparing for this competition.
"I encourage everyone who loves fireworks to see our show in Montreal. If
you can't make it, don't worry,
we plan on duplicating our Montreal show in Jaffrey on August 16th." |
