| Capacative Discharge firing systems are great for special needs when firing
large numbers of e-match in series. Our black Magic series is just that, It uses a relatively high voltage and low current to to provide power to fire these large circuits. These systems have the capacitor in the firing panel and it charges up fires the circuit and is then ready to charge again for the next shot. This is a controlled environment and is useful in specialty equipment. However we chose to not use capacitors in our outbound modules as some others
do for the following safety reason: once a capacitor is charged in a field
module and is waiting for a firing command it is a lit fuse that can not be
stopped in the event you need to abort your show. Should you need to stop your
show you will have all of your units powered up and in an unsafe condition until
the capacitors discharge internally which could take up to a few minutes to
power down.
All Pyromate systems with the exception of the Black Magic Use Battery
systems to power all modules in the field so that you can make a hard E stop in
the event of an emergency by powering down the system immediately. The bottom
line is that in all reality a battery is just like a big capacitor, and when it
is in the containment of your firing panel you have total control of its output
to your field equipment. |
